Moving On..

I have been in the process of trying to find an apartment. I have had a few options, but none of which I was totally in to for some reason or another. Just yesterday, though, I found pretty much exactly what I was looking for- a nice looking, nice size apartment for cheaper than I have found anwhere else. Also, its right in Grantsville which is the thing I most wanted. It is exciting and kind of freeing to move out on my own and I am happy, but I'm not jumping up and down screaming or anything. Its just something that needs to be done and I'm doing it. I was reading a little info and a study done on people age 18-29. According to the study, around 60% of people move out of their parents house by the age of 22. It found that women, of all ages, are more likely to move out than men. At 25, 86% of women and 72% of men had moved out. I wouldn't have guessed that or known that if I had not looked it up. Although I am attributing to that statistic cuz I'm a woman and although I'm on the low end of the spectrum being only 18, I am under 25, how exciting.. lol :) It's cool being a part of things (like freak, awesome, history making snow storms-just thought I'd throw that in there cuz this will be one of the last times I can say how much I love snow and mention it without literally getting killed :P) anyways back to work those phones don't answer themselves, you know. toodles :)

To All My Peeps

So, it's that time of year again. The time we celebrate the victory of life over death. As I sit at my desk on this beautiful Easter morning I can't help but feel thankful to be alive. I can't help but feel joyous and thankful that Christ died on the cross to save me, little old me, a small town girl from Garrett County. In honor of Easter (and being really bored at work :S) I decided to do a little research on my favorite Easter candy, PEEPS! :)

Peeps are distributed by the Just Born Candy Company, founded by Russian immigrant Sam Born (yes, thats right it was actually his idea for the movies and they chose Matt Damon because of his unmatched love for marshmallow peeps LOL) Originally it took 27 hours to make only one of the delightful treats!?! Seriously, thats sorta a long time. Good thing today it takes only 6 minutes, which means they can now make 2 million peeps a day- a good thing considering they have already sold around 700 million this Easter season. These yummy marshmallow treats are composed of marshmallow, sugar, gelatin and carnauba, a waxy substance that gives it the gritty, sugarcoated shell. Apparently there is a rumor that's been around for awhile that Peeps are indestructable. I personally hadn't heard of this this but I'm like cool, you know, whatever, let's run with it. So I read on. According to a site called InventHelp where I read about this rumor, it turns out to be true. In a study conducted at Emory University, inventive scientists failed to destroy a Peep even after dipping it into liquid nitrogen or boiling water?! I bet they just do wonders for out stomach and digestive system lol. Despite this, which many people either don't know or don't care, children and adults around the country continue to love them. There are actually Peeps fan clubs and songs (you can check out CD's on ebay lol) Acording to an article in the Los Angeles Times, "Fans of the pastel-colored, sugar-coated confections have compiled a "Lord of the Peeps" trilogy, filmed "Star Wars Peeps" and sent them into space on a high-altitude NASA weather balloon." Don't get me wrong, I loove to eat them and all but I'm not going to join a fan club or sing about them, thats just a little much. Also, every year they have a Peep-off which is held in Sacramento, CA. The challenge is to consume as many peeps as you can in 30 minutes and hold them down for 5 minutes after that. The world record for this event currently stands at 102 Peeps. Goodnes, it would take me days, if not a week or so to eat that many Peeps and not get sick. This year the Washington Post sponsored a diorama contest. They received 1,100 entries, including such memorable scenes as Peeps prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; John Steinbeck's sad-faced Peeps of Wrath; a flying Mary Peepins; and, most dramatic, a Peeps plane in the Hudson River. The winner was NightPeeps, a noirish homage to Edward Hopper's brooding 1942 oil painting, "Nighthawks." The box-sized diner even had two working florescent lights to re-create the moody scene. I had no idea that so many people loved Peeps, to what extent they loved them, and what all went on with them. Wow. Thats all I have to say.
Happy Easter! :)

In the Beginning..
